Paris Saint-Germain Overcomes Olympique de Marseille in a Shootout to Claim Trophee des Champions Super Cup in Kuwait.

Trophy celebration scene

The Parisian club has now secured the prestigious trophy on fourteen separate times.

Paris Saint-Germain required a dramatic leveler followed by a successful spot-kick decider to get past their arch-rivals in the Gulf and secure a record-extending fourth consecutive Trophee des Champions victory.

The Champions League holders appeared to be sailing towards a straightforward triumph in the match featuring the Ligue 1 champions and the French Cup winners after Ousmane Dembele found the scoring in the opening stages.

Yet, Marseille struck twice in the closing moments to take a surprise lead. Initially, the English forward scored from the spot-kick, before the defender unfortunately turned the ball into his own net for an own-goal.

In a breathtaking turn of events, Goncalo Ramos grabbed a vital leveler in the dying seconds to send the match into a deciding shootout. PSG goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier then emerged as the hero, stopping decisive attempts from Matt O'Riley and Traore.

In the shootout, Ramos, the midfielder, Nuno Mendes, and Desire Doue all scored successfully for PSG to complete a convincing penalty victory.

The record champions PSG, who faced last season's Ligue 1 runners-up Olympique de Marseille after completing a league and cup double, have now lifted this competition for the 12th time in the last 13 seasons.
