Around 25,000 homes in Queensland's southeast woke up lacking electricity on Monday's dawn after intense storm systems passed over the area, producing strong winds hitting over 100 km/h.

Large Hailstones and Extensive Impact

Homeowners observed large ice chunks reaching sizes of 7cm in particular locations. Weather authorities confirmed that multiple regions across Queensland had been affected by large hailstones.

Rescue organizations handled 598 emergency reports across the area, mainly for property damage but also for fallen timber and inundation.

Medical authorities warned that there was an greater possibility of epidemic thunderstorm asthma across the state's northern country region, particularly given the ongoing climate situation.
